Art in the Raval has always been prevalent, with theatres, museums, live music bars, etc. As well as all kinds of artistic expression in its streets such as graffiti and musicians. Visually, it’s a very unique neighbourhood, and that is why it generates a lot of interest in the creation of audiovisual content such as television series and movies.

What to consider when filming in Barcelona’s Raval district?

Lack of spaces

The Raval is the neighbourhood with the highest population density in Barcelona. Narrow streets, old buildings, small shops packed together on the ground floor… One of the challenges of filming in the Raval has traditionally been the lack of adequate facilities. Which means that renting offices, renting meeting rooms by the day or reserving rooms by the hour becomes a laborious task with a result that could be greatly improved. 

Security

In general, both the Ciutat Vella District and in particular the Raval neighbourhood of Barcelona are areas of the city with a lot of life and a lot of traffic (residents, recent arrivals and tourists), which also makes it a place prone to small thefts. Finding a space where you can work in peace and where you can safely leave equipment is key for production professionals.

Room rental at Espai Ravalora’t

Multipurpose rooms: The 47m² Multipurpose Room and the 65m² Ciutat Vella Room offer adaptable spaces where you can do script readings, make-up stations, or even rehearsals or castings for actors. You can choose between an open-plan layout or one equipped with tables and chairs or whatever furniture you may need at any given time during the production. 

Meeting rooms: from meeting rooms such as the Barceloneta Room (up to 10 people), to smaller rooms such as the Gòtic Room for actors to rest, or ending with the Raval Room for smaller team meetings, you are sure to find the right ones for your production.

Office and spaces rental

Finally, we have two office spaces: the one on the first floor is geared towards administrative roles, being the more typical office space. The second is a large space at street level, ideal for the needs of filming days, with all the coming and going. Providing a good mix with the separation from the rest of the Ravalora’t and AECV facilities. Always having the support of the Espai Ravalora’t team, whilst working in a private space.
